location with a history

Gallery Naerden is located in the centre of Naarden Vesting, a historical dutch town that is among the best preserved fortified cities of Europe. Throughout the years, the fortress has changed shape, name, and even location. Our name Gallery Naerden, refers to the city's name back in the 14th century.

The building itself has known many occupants, amongst which an antiques shop, a renowned furniture maker, a pottery, a baker and a 'winkel van sinkel' (shop of everything).

Now, ~300 years after it was built, Marktstraat 38 has been transformed into an intimate gallery space where photography, paintings, objects and curiosities come together.

In this beautiful space we hope to inspire people with our style - showing a rich variety of artistic disciplines and objects, carefully curated into a cohesive story.
